It's always sad to hear about the death of a young person, passing before their time. Former One Direction star Liam Payne has dominated the headlines over the last couple of days after his tragic fall from a hotel balcony in Buenas Aires.
Citing issues with alcohol and drugs during his musical career, fame can come at a price, and trying to cope with it from such a young age as in Liam's case can't be easy. A sudden rise to prominence involves intensive adoration from fans, a hectic schedule of live shows and tv/radio appearances, pressure from management and recording companies, and media scrutiny 24/7.
Some people would jump at the chance to experience this celebrity status but not me. Trying to stay at the pinnacle of your profession must be a difficult strain on mental wellbeing affecting those of the celebrity world, be they actors, athletes or musicians.
Back in 2014 I witnessed the fanatical crowd who had gathered to see the original line up of boy band One Direction which included Liam Payne. From the outside looking in, they were five young men barely out of their teenage years with the world at their feet. Since then the band split and all members have continued on to varying degrees of success. We'll never now know what future heights Liam Payne could have risen to.
